Donald Bellunduno, BA, MA Candidate in Marriage and Family Therapy
Clinical Intern
Donald Bellunduno comes to Cumberland Counseling as a Masters Candidate at National University with a committed intention to support couples struggling with relationship issues, those working to end anxiety or stress related items, while he becomes an LMFT - but is certified already as a Mental Health Champion through MHFA.org. MHCs are "a specialized group of people within an organization who advocate for mental health awareness, provide support, and can direct if need be to additional resources.”
Being collaborative, present, practicing active listening, providing recognition on key subjects, and establishing a connection on issues facing the gay community as we all evolve our identities within that space, are his main tools, but he also has experience working with, specifically, gay male orientation identity issues, LGBTQIA blended family issues, family shaming, and understanding the impact of religion on LGBTQIA lifestyles, both positive and negative. Evolving sexuality transitions is also something he has experience in.
He is also very well informed on the impact of present day politics on people's lives these days, and how this phenomenon affects our everyday lives, and would be open to discussing any mental health related issues that may be in play regarding this, such as being overly distracted by the news, or not knowing how to filter out the noise we are all currently experiencing from the media and politics in general.
